Stable for nativity figures by Wendt & Kühn from Grünhainichen in the Ore Mountains, new 2023.
From this year onwards the Holy Family will be offered shelter in this stable. Designed by Grete Wendt in 1910/11 as a commission from Karl Schmidt, founder of the Deutsche Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst Hellerau. The little house with its distinctive decorative fasciae is made from steamed robinia. In order to maintain the natural character of the wood, it has been finished with a silk matt varnish with deliberately no color added, making a charming contrast to the strong colors of the figurines which will be placed inside or in front of it.
