Freiberger Mine singer 1st bass with 2 figures from the Werner manufactory in the Erzgebirge. Mine singer in Freiberg were mentioned in documents as early as the mid-16th century. In 1683, Oberberghauptmann Abraham von Schönberg appointed eight miners as miners, some of whom were relieved of their work underground. The songs tell of the hard life of a miner in the past, but also of love and pride, piety, cheerfulness and sly pranks of the miners. The old tradition of the mountain singers was revived in 1995 by five Freibergers. The repertoire includes miners' songs from Saxony and various other European mining regions.
